The Rhode Island State Capitol Police Provide Security also to Court Houses and in other State Government Buildings. It is believed that they are using Low-Power Portables (453.500 and 453.650 possibly) in some locations. But Mainly seems like they are using NEXTEL and Landline, since they are more of Site Police Officers and do not have police cruisers except for around the State Capitol Building area. Private Security does supplement the Rhode Island State Capitol Police as needed in some locations, but mostly during over nights.
The Rhode Island Capitol Police look like the RI State Police and thus are easily confused with them, however they do not have the Campaign hats (AKA Drill Sergeant Hats, AKA Smokey Bear Hats), they have regular looking Police Officer Hats (Garrison Hats). The uniforms are almost the same as the RI State Police except that they do not wear a brown leather duty belt. They are armed and provide security and law enforcement to all state buildings (Except State Colleges which have their own Police and State Hospitals which have no Security Force), courts and the State Capitol Building on a 24 Hour Basis. The RI State Capitol Police Officers and the RI State Sheriff's Academies are run in conjunction with the Rhode Island State Police.
