Revision as of 09:33, 12 August 2008

York County Fire System

  • State Police Gray has taken over the dispatching of the fire departments that use the York County UHF system (460.550 MHz.) and the northern York County VHF system (155.7450 MHz.) as of January, 2007. This change is due to the state-mandated reduction in E911 PSAPs.
  • UHF fire primary channels 1, 2 & 3 are not simulcast and cover different areas. Most calls are toned out twice over different repeaters to ensure more complete coverage.
  • UHF fire tactical simplex channels 4 & 8 and usually assigned for fireground operations.
  • UHF fire tactical repeater channels 5, 6 & 7 are generally used more for administrative type traffic.
  • Although still licensed by several communities, there is no longer any use of low-band fire frequencies.

State Fire

  • State Fire, 154.3100 MHz (No PL) is the statewide mutual aid frequency.
  • 154.2800 MHz (No PL) is licensed by the State Fire Chiefs Association and is used by many VHF departments as a tactical channel.

Emergency Management

  • York County EMA channels 159.7800 MHz & 460.4500 are crossbanded to allow interoperable communications between departments on VHF and those on UHF during major incidents.
  • EMA channels are also used by the three fire towers in York County staffed by volunteers during times of high fire danger: Mt. Agamenticus (York), Mt. Hope (Sanford) & Ossipee Mtn. (Waterboro)
