- The Rhode Island Capitol Police was formed in 1974.
- Its Officers provide security and law enforcement functions at about 20 state facilities and offices, including the State House.
- Except State Colleges/Universities which have their own Police and State Hospitals.
- The RI State Capitol Police Officers and the RI State Sheriff's Academies are run in conjunction with the Rhode Island State Police.
