- The present State Police system was constructed in 1974. A new statewide multi-agency digital VHF system has been discussed by the State Radio Advisory Board.

- Maine Forest Service Rangers are dispatched over the Forestry repeater system from three regional headquarters: Augusta, Old Town & Ashland. Rangers respond to all woods fires of significance.
