Coast Guard Stations Boats

(Radio Call Sign: Hull Number ______)

  • 47 Foot Life Boat (MLB) The 47 Foot Motor Life Boat is the primary response boat for rescues and the like. Most Coast Guard Stations have a 47 Foot Motor Life Boat.
  • 41 Foot Utility Boat The 41 Foot Utility Boat is the around harbor/general purpose boat, hence the designation of Utility Boat. It is rapidly being replaced and or augmented by the Defender Class boats:
  • 25 Foot Defender Class* The Defender class can be armed with machine guns, etc. and can serve in a multi-mission role from Port Security to Search and Rescue, etc.
  • Some stations have a 27 Foot Defender Style Boat my guess is that these boats were ordered before the USCG decided to order 700 of the 25 Foot Defender Class Boats.
