All departments are capable of transmitting on State Channel 2 (460.5000 MHz PL 118.8 Hz simplex). Some officers choose not to use this channel on their handheld radios because of poor reception or other technical problems. When people are arrested, the transporting officer calls the detention facility on Channel 2 to let them know he's coming.
