The Rhode Island Capitol Police was formed in 1974.
Its Officers provide security and law enforcement functions at about 20 state facilities and offices, including the State House.
Except State Colleges/Universities which have their own Police and State Hospitals.
The RI State Capitol Police Officers and the RI State Sheriff's Academies are run in conjunction with the Rhode Island State Police.
